Report Release on Maharashtra results of Greening the Grid

February 7, 2018- Mumbai, Maharashtra Deputy Secretary- Industries, Energy & Labour, Prashant P. Badgeri and Executive Director of Western Regional Load Despatch Centre (WRLDC), POSOCO, V. K. Shrivastava, jointly launched the Maharashtra state results of the joint U.S.-India study. The state results demonstrates that Maharashtra’s electricity grid can balance 14 GW of solar and wind energy (equivalent to 20 percent of its generation) at 15-minute operational timescales. Coal generation will be 7 percent less within the state when the 14 GW target is met compared to a future where no new renewable energy is produced after 2016.
