U.S. Under Secretary Menezes Visit to NTPC: NTPC Dadri Plant
April 14, 2018- Uttar Pradesh, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Under Secretary Mr. Mark W. Menezes visited the Centre for Power Efficiency & Environmental Protection (CenPEEP) located in NTPC’s Dadri plant. The Centre was established by NTPC in July 1994 to implement the protocol of intent signed between the governments of India and U.S. as part of the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Prevention Project (GEP) with the active involvement and support of the USAID and DOE. CenPEEP has already carried out successful demonstration projects at NTPC’s Singrauli (2,000 MW), Dadri (840 MW) and Badarpur (705 MW) units to address climate change issues. The visit highlighted and showcased the efforts and achievements made under this NTPC-USAID collaboration. During the visit, Mr. Mark also reiterated the importance of this long-term collaboration, which should continue, with the proposed pilot on flexible operation in large-scale integration of RE, under USAID’s GTG-RISE initiative and offered USAID and DOE support to future NTPC projects. Shri A. K. Das, Group General Manager, NTPC – Dadri expressed hopes that team NTPC- Dadri will benefit from the rich experience and expertise of the US Team.
